About the Map

Starting in September 2006, National Career Readiness Certificates were generated with a unique Certificate number to verify a Certificate's authenticity, and to provide a method for employers across the country to verify an individual's Certificate details. The numbers on the map represent National Career Readiness Certificates—paper or electronic—registered in ACT's database.

The Certificates reported on the map do not reflect the additional significant progress achieved by the states and regions that have adopted the WorkKeys system for career readiness purposes and state specific certificates.

ACT recognizes the benefits that have been achieved by proponents of state and regional initiatives based on the WorkKeys system. The work of these pioneers represents a significant contribution to the national discussion of workforce preparation and essential skills. Most importantly, their actions raised awareness that greatly accelerated progress toward a nationwide solution.
