The National Career Readiness Certificate takes essential skills to the next level

Platinum Certificate

A new certificate level—Platinum—will become available to individuals who complete WorkKeys assessments for purposes of obtaining The National Career Readiness Certificate.

Qualifying for a Platinum-level certificate will require individuals to achieve a minimum level score of 6 on three WorkKeys assessments—Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics, and Locating Information. Current data show that individuals with Platinum certificates would be qualified for nearly 99% of the jobs that have been subjected to profiling studies since the WorkKeys system was launched.

The decision to expand the range of the National Career Readiness Certificate is based on a number of important reasons that include:

  • Demonstrating the presence of essential employability skills at all levels of employment
  • Encouraging individuals to seek higher levels of preparation needed to enter postsecondary education and technical/professional jobs
  • Capitalizing on opportunities to research the role essential skills play in occupations and job tasks of greater complexity
  • Providing certificate holders with the option to pursue skill levels that make them qualified for virtually all of the jobs ACT has researched
  • Increasing opportunities to recognize the accomplishments of high-achieving individuals
  • Positioning states and regions to differentiate their workforces in terms of high skill levels
