The Career Planning Survey includes:

  • Two Academic Ability Tests covering Reading and Numerical Skills to help students understand the importance of these two abilities in all occupations. Results are nationally normed by grade level.

  • An Inventory of Work-Relevant Abilities (IWRA) to help students rate themselves in 15 work-relevant ability areas, many of which are not assessed by tests. The inventory provides scores on six scales corresponding to six career clusters: Administration & Sales, Business Operations, Technical, Science & Technology, Arts, and Social Service.

  • The Unisex Edition of the ACT Interest Inventory (UNIACT) assesses student likes and dislikes for 90 common activities. UNIACT is especially helpful for students who have not made the connection between the work world and the activities they like to do. Like the IWRA, UNIACT provides scores for the six career clusters.

  • Scores from the UNIACT and the IWRA are linked to the World-of-Work Map, which is an enhancement of Holland's Hexagon. The World-of-Work Map helps students bridge the gap between test scores and real career options.
