Four Teachers to Help Develop ACT Assessment

IOWA CITY, Iowa—Four teachers were selected to spend part of their summer helping to develop the ACT Assessment, the college admissions test, or evaluating the instructional support materials for the test.

The teachers will participate in the ACT Visiting Teacher Program. The program brings teachers from across the United States to ACT's headquarters in Iowa City to work with staff involved with creating the ACT Assessment and its support materials.

The teachers are:

Marilyne Ross, a reading specialist at Oak Ridge High School in Orlando, Fla.
Cennie Ruley, a language arts teacher at Stephenson High School in Stone Mountain, Ga.
Annette Sample, an English teacher at George Washington Carver High School in Philadelphia, Penn.
Gary Willis, Credit Recovery Program director at Tilghman High School in Paducah, Ky.

The program, in its eighth year, will take place June 16 to July 25, 2003.

Fifty-nine teachers (a record number) from 19 states applied to take part in this year's program.
