Iowa City, IAOn the occasion of its 50th anniversary, the ACT Board of Directors last night announced plans to name the conference center on its campus the Ferguson Center. The large conference center and the nearby Davidsen building were completed in 2003.
"ACT has a tradition of naming its buildings in honor of key individuals who have served the organization in long-term leadership roles. This is a fitting tribute to a man who has served ACT in many vital roles since he first joined the organization in 1972. Dick Ferguson served as President from 1988 until 2002 when he became the organization's CEO and Chairman of the Board," said Mark Musick, Lead Director. "Dick has dedicated his life to ACT's mission: helping people achieve education and workplace success."
The Ferguson Center includes multiple conference and training rooms, ACT's Information Resource Center, and large dining center. ACT uses the facility on a regular basis for internal meetings, computer training, to welcome guests and visitors from around the world, for local and national conferences, and for special events such as its annual employee recognition dinner.
