EXPLORE College Readiness Benchmark Attainment, Race/Ethnicity, and High School Persistence

The chart below shows the relationship between the attainment of EXPLORE® 8th-grade College Readiness Benchmarks in English, mathematics, reading, and science and high school persistence for three racial/ethnic student groups. For each racial/ethnic group, students who met a higher number of the EXPLORE College Readiness Benchmarks were more likely to persist in high school than students who met fewer EXPLORE College Readiness Benchmarks.

Note: The data are from 2,967 students who participated in an ENGAGE Middle School pilot study and took EXPLORE. The sample is comprised of 11% black, 16% Hispanic, and 73% white students and may not be representative of the population.
