ACT Student Video Contest Begins October 29

Winning entrants awarded with college scholarships

 IOWA CITY, Iowa—Lights. Camera. Action. ACT is sponsoring a video contest to encourage high school juniors and seniors to use their creativity to share information with other ACT test takers. Videos may be entered in any of five categories: test day tips, the use of photo IDs for admission, the consequences of cheating, the ACT English Test, or myths about the ACT test. The student with the winning video in each category will receive a $1,000 scholarship to the college of his or her choice. The second-place winner in each category will receive a $500 scholarship. ACT will judge the videos based on the following criteria: overall content (50 percent), creativity (25 percent), and visual appeal (25 percent). Finalist videos will be placed on the contest website and online voting will determine the winners. Participants must be high school 11th and 12th grade students who are residents of the U.S. and plan to attend a two-year or four-year college in the next two years. The winning videos may be featured on the actstudent.org website and ACT’s social media channels on Facebook and YouTube. Video entries of two minutes or less will be accepted between October 29 and December 4, 2012. Online voting will take place from January 7–21, 2013, and winners will be announced on January 22, 2013.
