Learn about Remote Proctoring

ACT® WorkKeys® remote proctoring is a new premium feature in the ACT® WorkKeys® assessment suite for the adult market (e.g., community colleges, workforce boards, adult education agencies, businesses, etc.). The remote proctoring feature will allow 24/7 testing anytime anywhere.

Key Benefits for Test Centers

  • Flexible — Extends testing center reach and availability to meet examinees where they are located at a time that works in their schedule.
  • Access — Remote proctoring improves workforce quality by closing skills gaps and improves equity, especially in rural and underserved communities.
  • Timely — Examinees who use remote proctoring receive their results within 72 hours.
  • Increase Site Capacity and Revenue — The ability to increase numbers of test takers and revenue without adding burden on your test center, personnel, support services or budget.
  • Expand Workforce Ecosystem — Greater reach and convenience to empower states, regions, and counties to drive economic growth to meet workforce development efforts.

Key Benefits for Examinees

  • 24/7 access for scheduling options and personalization.
  • Eliminates geographic barriers to testing.
  • Full technical support before and during an exam.
  • The opportunity to earn the ACT® WorkKeys® National Career Readiness Certificate™ (NCRC®) remotely.

Test Examinees Using Remote Proctoring

Use the existing Administering ACT WorkKeys Assessments – National Testing webpage to find resources related to ACT WorkKeys testing. Most all of the resources are applicable, with only a handful of differences that are noted here within this remote proctoring webpage. You’ll still use your realm to create the examinee account; but to include additional information about the examinee and select the tests that are identified as “remote proctor.” Use the resources found on this remote proctoring webpage when providing this service to examinees.

Create Examinee Account and Assign Remote Proctor Tests

Follow the instructions in the Remote Proctor Assessments Quick Start Guide to create the examinee’s account and assign the correct tests.

Resources:

Tip: When creating the examinee account in your realm, you must also enter the fields of Address 1, City, State/Province, ZIP Code, and Email. These additional fields are necessary to kick off the email to ProctorU to create their account and sending the ProctorU scheduling email to examinee.
Tip: If the examinee doesn’t receive a scheduling email, more than likely you did not enter the address information when you created the account. You can correct this yourself by going to the account, enter data in these fields, delete the old registrations, then create new remote proctor registrations.

Accommodations Information

Tip: Due to the nature of remote proctoring, accommodations testing options are limited and may still be best served through onsite administrations.

Remote Proctoring Information Provided to Examinees

Examinees receive scheduling emails from ProctorU shortly after you create their account – so long as you enter the address fields mentioned above. The ProctorU emails contain a link to an examinee webpage that contains specific information to prepare the examinee for testing with a remote proctor. Technical requirements that the examinee’s device must meet, a video of what to expect on test day, and other resources to learn what to expect on test day. You may preview this information on the webpage listed.

Technical Requirements for Examinees

Tip: ProctorU provides 24/7 support to examinees with account creation issues or assistance scheduling exams within the ProctorU system. If an examinee encounters issues with Validus, they will be instructed to contact their testing site facilitator for assistance. ProctorU does not have access to Validus.
Tip: Encourage examinees to perform ProctorU’s “Test-It-Out” system check prior to their exam. The system check is available in each examinee’s ProctorU account.

Retrieve Examinee’s Scores

Tip: Due to the nature of remote proctoring, scores will not be available to examinees until 72 hours after the test has been submitted. This hold time allows ACT to evaluate the academic integrity of the exam session. After the hold period expires, you may release scores to the examinee.

Tip: There is no difference in how you access scores for an examinee who tested online or with remote proctoring, other than the delayed wait time to retrieve the report.
