Nuclear Engineering
PrintTopics of Study
In this program, you will learn how to apply mathematical and scientific principles to the design, development, operation, and evaluation of nuclear power systems to control nuclear energy. This includes power plant design, fission and fusion reactor design, reactor control and safety systems design, power transfer systems, containment vessels and structure design, human and environmental factors, construction and operational considerations. You will take mathematics, sciences, basic engineering science courses, and the humanities.
Degrees
- A bachelor's degree is sufficient for entry-level nuclear engineering jobs, and may include aerospace jobs.
- Graduates with an advanced degree may teach in higher education, work as consultants, or hold management positions.
- Jobs may be found in research, development, design, production, including nuclear fission reactors; and in health, radiation biology, or nuclear medicine fields.
