CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES answer customer questions or give information about products or services. They handle and resolve customer complaints, such as billing, service, and equipment problems. They open accounts for utilities such as electricity or gas, or for services such as cable television or telephone. They gather information by telephone. They receive and issue orders for services to be installed, turned on, turned off, or changed. They may also explain how to use equipment. They complete contract forms and maintain records. They also exchange merchandise or give refunds.

Entry Requirements
Most employers prefer to hire CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES with at least a high school diploma. Some employers may prefer some college background. Employers usually train workers on the job or through formal company training programs. Employers almost always prefer college graduates for positions involving computers and other more complex jobs. Prior work experience is very important.
