In this program, you will study the historical development of art as social and intellectual phenomenon, the analysis of works of art, and art conservation. You will learn about art theory, art history research methods, the preservation and conservation of works of art, and you will study specific periods, cultures, styles, and themes. You will look at presentations of famous works of art or collections by individual artists, and take notes and memorize the information. Liberal arts and humanities courses will help you to better express yourself through your art.
Degrees
- Certificate programs focus on improving your skills in art history or conservation.
- Associate and bachelor's degree programs include useful background courses in other subjects and experience with a variety of art forms.
- A bachelor's degree is helpful when applying for jobs with museums or art galleries, for example.
