In this program, you will study the principles and techniques of photography, and how to communicate ideas, moods, and feelings through the creation of images on photographic film, plates, and digital images. This program prepares individuals to be professional photographic artists. You will study camera and equipment operation, film and plate developing, light and composition, films and printing media, photographic art and history, and computer applications. Courses in liberal arts and the humanities will be helpful.
Degrees
- Certificate programs primarily focus on improving skills in photography studies.
- Associate and bachelor's degrees include useful background courses in other subjects.
- A graduate degree is usually required for college teaching.
- Hiring is often based more on the quality of your art than on your degree(s). You may work in photography, journalism, computer imaging, or creating speial effects in business, television, and filming, among others.
