In this program, you will learn how to prepare, provide, and direct funeral and burial services and how to sell caskets, urns, and other funerary equipment. You will learn about professional licensure as a funeral director and about management of funeral homes and cemeteries, and about marketing and sales of services. The program includes instruction in embalming and cremation procedures and techniques, and cemetery management, and in counseling and other operational aspects of funeral service.
Degrees
- An associate degree of science upon completion of a two-year program is required, and a twelve-month internship and passing a state and/or national board examination may be required before receiving a license to practice as a mortician or funeral director.
