In this program, you will study the science of dealing with data. You will become knowledgeable and skilled in mathematical theory which forms the basis of probability and inference and roles they play in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data. You will focus on relationships between groups of measurements, and similarities and differences, using probability theory. You will study the theory of statistics, data collection systems, techniques used in sampling, survey research, and projections. You will take algebra, computer science, and calculus.
Degrees
- A bachelor's degree in statistics prepares you to work as a statistician in a variety of settings, including manufacturing, industry, business, consulting firms, engineering, publishing, and the government. Jobs might include financial planner, investment banker, accountant, or bookkeeper.
- A graduate degree is often helpful to become expert in statistics and is required for college teaching and in some management positions.
