Multi/Interdisciplinary Studies
PrintTopics of Study
This major is designated as multidisciplinary or interdisciplinary because it synthesizes one or more existing academic programs and looks at specific problems and ideas through the framework of these disciplines. Rather than taking courses in a single department or discipline, you will take courses in many departments and gain a variety of perspectives. These majors might include such specialties as biopsychology, historic preservation and conservation, medieval and renaissance studies, and holocaust studies.
Degrees
- Certificate or associate degree programs are designed to address a specific, job-related need that requires a multidisciplinary approach.
- Some bachelor's or graduate level programs allow students to define the theme of study and decide which courses to take, while others are predefined programs that use faculty from different departments.
