FASHION MODELS wear, show, and advertise the latest fashion designs. They pose for pictures that appear in fashion or store catalogs, magazines, and newspapers. They are hired by advertising agencies, freelance photographers, and modeling agencies. Fashion models also work for clothing manufacturers, dress designers, department stores, dress salons, and wholesalers. They model in formal fashion shows or informally in private showings. Their busiest seasons are spring and fall when new designs are shown.

Entry Requirements
No formal training is required to become a FASHION MODEL, however, an attractive physical appearance is necessary to become successful. Models must also be within certain ranges for height, weight, and dress or coat size in order to meet the practical needs of fashion designers, photographers, and advertisers. Modeling schools provide training in posing, walking, and makeup application. A good portfolio is key to getting assignments. Being photogenic is the most important asset. No special licensing or certification is required for fashion models.
