Mediators help solve disputes in families, between stores and consumers, and in many areas such as leases, real estate, banking, finance, etc. They meet with people to review and evaluate information about disagreements. They analyze evidence and apply related laws in order to make decisions. They advise about settlement offers and prepare settlement agreements.

Entry Requirements

Although there are no specific requirements for MEDIATORS, many have a professional background. Most have a bachelor's degree and a graduate degree, in law, psychology, conflict management, alternative dispute resolution or a related field. Mediators who practice in state-funded or court-funded mediation programs usually must meet specific training or experience standards, which vary by state and court. Those who offer private mediation services usually have completed mediation training and agreed to comply with certain ethical standards.
