This major focuses on the study of cultures from the viewpoint of women, i.e. comparative cultures, world arts, western civilization, and third world studies. For this major you will take some general courses in the field of area, ethnic and cultural studies and a number of highly specialized courses in a specific subject area. You will study the contributions of women in the arts, literature, science, and professions, and their influence on history.
Degrees
- A bachelor's degree is often required to enter occupations related to this majors. These may include journalist, sociologist, consultant, translator, lobbyist, foreign service officer, archeologist, or anthropologist.
- A graduate degree is usually required for advancement into administrative positions in business or in the field of higher education.
