This broad major will orient you to social sciences as a whole. You will study human beings and their social behavior and institutions. You will learn about their origins and how they adapted to environmental changes. You will learn how humans make decisions or organize into groups; and their motivations, values and beliefs, and hopes and fears for the future. All of these topics can be learned through the study of general social science. You will study other liberal arts courses as well as social science in order to gain a broad understanding of our world.
Degrees
- A bachelor's degree provides a good background for many occupations in business, government, communications, and social services.
- A graduate degree is usually required to work in social sciences.
- A doctoral degree is usually required to do research or teach in college.
- Graduates with a degree in social sciences may find opportunities in law, labor relations, criminology, counseling, and politics.
