In this program, you will study the application of economics principles to the analysis of the organization and operation of business enterprises. Subjects include monetary theory, banking and financial systems, theory of competition, pricing theory, and wage, salary, and incentive theory. You will also learn how to analyze markets and apply econometrics (the application of statistical methods to economic data) and quantitative methods to the study of businesses and business problems. Strong math skills are important in this major.
Degrees
- A bachelor's degree in business economics will qualify for work in information systems, finance, or marketing in business, industry, or government.
- A Masters of Business Administration (MBA) is required for many management positions.
- A doctoral degree is required to work as an economist or teach.
