In this program, you will learn how to teach health education programs at various educational levels. The program begins with courses specific to the subject matter. Upper level courses focus on lesson planning, instructional techniques, assessment and evaluation techniques, and supervision and discipline strategies. You will observe an experienced teacher work with students. The teacher will also supervise your lesson plans and you will then teach those lessons to the students. The supervising teacher provides ongoing advice, support, and evaluation of your performance.
Degrees
- A bachelor's degree, plus additional training in the particular subject, is required to teach at the elementary or secondary education level.
- A graduate degree is usually required to teach in higher education, or to be a career or guidance counselor.
