PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHERS teach students physical education activities and health subjects. They plan physical education programs to help students develop their skills, knowledge, and enjoyment of movement and fitness. They teach individual and team sports, using their knowledge of sports techniques and the physical capabilities of the students. They organize, lead, instruct, and referee indoor and outdoor sports, such as baseball, basketball, football, tennis, lacrosse, and volleyball. They teach gymnastics, calisthenics, rhythm and dance, and various exercises. They teach and demonstrate the use of gymnastics and training equipment, such as trampolines and weights.

Entry Requirements

All states require public school PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHERS to be certified. Requirements vary by state, however, all states require a bachelor's degree and the completion of an approved teacher training program with a prescribed number of subject and education credits as well as supervised practice teaching in a school setting.
