In this program, you will learn about the literary culture of the ancient Graeco-Roman world and the Greek and Latin languages and literatures and their development prior to the fall of the Roman and Byzantine Empires. This includes ancient languages and literatures of Sanskrit and Classical Indian languages, Near Eastern and Biblical languages, Ancient/Classical Greek, and Latin language and literature. You will learn about the earliest days of these two civilizations, through their period of greatness, to the time of their collapse.
Degrees
- A bachelor's degree is usually required to enter occupations such as teacher, translator, researcher, or interpreter.
- A graduate degree may increase chances of finding a job such as professor, linguist, or work in international law, business, or medicine.
- A doctorate provides the opportunity for teaching in higher education.
