In this program, you will focus on two or more literary traditions in the original languages or in translation. You will receive instruction in comparative linguistics; applicable foreign languages; English/French language and literature; literary criticism; and applications to genre, period, national, and textual studies as well as literary forms such as poetry, prose, and drama.
Degrees
- Graduates of programs at the two-year or four-year level may prepare for a job as a writer or a secondary education teacher.
- A graduate degree is preferred for most jobs in this field.
- An advanced degree is usually necessary to teach in a university setting, or to work in journalism, publishing, business, government, or other fields which require excellent writing and literary ability..
