In this program, you will study sciences, procedures, and techniques needed for the practice of dentistry/dental medicine. You will learn about the evaluation, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases of the mouth, maxillofacial area, and adjacent structures, and their impact on human health. You will study basic biomedical sciences, dental health and prevention, operative dentistry, clinical management, patient counseling, and standards and ethics. You will spend time in a dental clinic to work on people's teeth, supervised by a professional dentist.
Degrees
- A bachelor's degree in a major such as biology or chemistry is the minimum education for entrance into dental school.
- The Doctor of Dental Science program is generally a minimum of three years in length.
