In this program, you will learn about the nature of religious belief and specific religious and quasi-religious systems. You will study the sociology, psychology, philosophy, anthropology, literature, and art of religion. You will also learn about mythology, scripture, religious history and politics, and study particular faith communities and their behavior.
Degrees
- A certificate program or associate degree prepares individuals to teach religious education for a church.
- A bachelor's degree is usually required for teaching in public schools.
- A graduate degree is required for college teaching.
- Specialties in this major may lead to jobs such as philosopher, theologian, or anthropologist; or in ministry and missions, education, and human service fields.
