In this program, you will study the theory and practice of providing educational services to members of a particular faith community, and develop an understanding of the relation and integration of theology and education. This program prepares individuals to serve as religious educators. You will learn how to design and prepare educational materials and courses of instruction, supervise educational activities, and administer educational programs and facilities.
Degrees
- A certificate program or associate's degree may be adequate to teach religion in a church-related program.
- A bachelor's degree may be required for teaching positions.
- A graduate degree is required to work for large religious organizations or as an educational administrator. Specialties in this major may lead to jobs in social work or in the clergy.
- A doctoral degree is required to teach in college.
