SALES/MARKETING MANAGERS are responsible for the efficient and profitable marketing and sales of company products. They develop a marketing strategy. They determine demand for company products, and the type of business most likely to buy them. They price products to benefit the company and ensure customer satisfaction. They promote products to attract users. They direct the firm's sales program. They set goals and provide training programs for sales reps. They advise sales reps on how to improve their sales. They maintain contact with dealers and distributors. They analyze sales statistics to determine inventory needs and monitor customer preferences.

Entry Requirements
Employers prefer to hire SALES/MARKETING MANAGERS with experience in related work and a liberal arts background. Some employers prefer a bachelor's or master's degree in business administration with an emphasis on marketing. Courses in business law, economics, accounting, finance, math, and statistics are a plus. In highly technical industries, a bachelor's degree in engineering or science with a master's degree in business administration is preferred, and computer skills are vital. Voluntary certification is offered by some associations.
