In this program, you will learn about the society, culture, politics, history, and economics of North American peoples descended from the African diaspora in the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean. You will study the heritage, mores, and values which make up their belief systems. You will study the contributions of people within the ethnic groups--in the arts, literature, science, and professions -- and their influence on history.
Degrees
- A bachelor's degree is often required to enter occupations related to these majors, such as archaeologist, anthropologist, sociologist, journalist, diplomat, lobbyist, consultant, translator, foreign exchange trader, or foreign service officer.
- A graduate degree is usually required for advancement into administrative positions in business or in the field of higher education.
