In this program, you will focus on computer software and learn to design programs that solve problems. You will learn scientific methods for solving problems, computer languages, and user interface design. You will study the principles of computational science, computing theory; computer hardware design; computer development and programming; and the development of applications to solve a variety of problems.
Degrees
- A certificate or an associate's degree from a career-technical school or two-year college will qualify for entry-level jobs in support of computer designers and engineers.
- A bachelor's degree may prepare individuals for positions as programmers in science, education, and technology, as well as in business and government. Jobs may include systems architect, software producer, graphic designer, or a management information systems specialist.
- A graduate degree will provide specialized knowledge or training in management or technical solutions to complex problems, and is usually required to teach in this field.
