This program prepares students to serve as legal office managers, special assistants, and legal secretaries. It includes instruction in office management, secretarial science, and principles of U.S. or Canadian law. Students also study legal terminology and documentation, legal research methods, software applications, record-keeping, billing, and related administrative functions which support the activities of a lawyer. They also learn about applicable policies and regulations, and professional standards and ethics.
Degrees
- Career-technical school and two-year college level programs prepare individuals for entry-level clerical and administrative support work in law offices.
- A bachelor's degree qualifies for more advanced administrative assistant positions.
