In this program, you will learn how to support professional medical personnel, such as physicians, as they give medical care to patients. You will learn how to help in patient examinations or treatments and keep patient health information. You will receive instruction in math, biology, chemistry, and anatomy, as well as patient interviewing and history-taking, laboratory testing and analysis, routine medication prescription and administration, and record preparation and maintenance. You will learn office procedures and client service techniques, such as counseling.
Degrees
- A certificate or associate degree program in medical assisting prepares individuals for jobs in physicians' offices, hospitals, nursing homes, and other health care facilities.
- A bachelor's degree is required for management level positions, teaching, or administrative support occupations.
