In this program, you will learn how to help in nursing care, directed by a registered nurse or physician. You will study anatomy, physiology, medical-surgical nursing, pediatrics, obstetrics, psychiatric nursing, administration of drugs, nutrition, and first aid. You will develop observational skills and management abilities. You will study nursing ethics, theory and application, patient relationships, and organization of health care. You will learn about day-to-day operations in hospitals, nursing homes, mental health institutions, and community health organizations.
Degrees
- A certificate or associate degree program prepares individuals for practical or vocational nurse, nurse aide, or home health aid positions.
- LPNs are required to pass a licensing examination after completing a State-approved practical nursing program.
