This is a program that prepares individuals, under the supervision of psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, and other mental health care professionals, to provide direct patient care services, assist in developing treatment plans, administer medications, and perform related administrative functions. You will study mental health theory, patient communication and management, and crisis intervention.
Degrees
- A certificate or associate degree program prepares individuals to assist in a clinical setting as a psychiatric mental health technician.
- A bachelor's degree will qualify you for positions in management and teaching. Clinical certification by one or more national counseling organizations may also be required.
