In this program, you will be supervised by physicians as you learn how to recognize, assess, and manage medical emergencies in prehospital settings and to supervise ambulance personnel. You will study EMT procedures, emergency surgical procedures, medical triage, rescue operations and crisis scene management and personnel supervision. You will learn about equipment operation, patient stabilization, monitoring and care, and drug administration, communication and computer operations, basic anatomy, physiology, pathology, and standards and regulations.
Degrees
- A certificate or associate degree will qualify for work in entry-level positions in many different settings within the health field or in emergency care.
- Formal training and certification is needed to become an EMT or paramedic.
