In this program, you will learn how to design public and private spaces, indoor and outdoor, for leisure, recreational, commercial, and living purposes, with the goal to improve the way people live. You will study the design and planning of spaces and their relationship to buildings and other aspects of the environment, facilities management, related aspects of interior design and architecture, landscape architecture, and urban planning. You will learn about the social and ecological impact of buildings on their surroundings. You will also study other visual arts.
Degrees
- A four-year non-professional degree in architecture or a five-year professional degree in architecture are available.
- A master's degree in architecture, depending upon undergraduate degree, will need up to three years' additional study at a graduate or professional school. You must complete an internship and pass an examination in order to become a licensed architect.
- An advanced degree is required to teach in higher education.
